March is all about pumpkins at Kraaijeveld! Kraaijeveld has three different types of pumpkins in our wide range of fruits and vegetables: butternut squash, muscat pumpkin and Hokkaido pumpkins.

About the business
The Unifrutas Group was established by three melon growers in the Mossoro region in the North East of Brazil. The group consists of three businesses. The Unifrutas Group employs approximately 900 workers during the high season.
The company is committed to deliver fixed programmes of high quality fresh fruit and
vegetables and offering varieties and volumes which meet the customer’s needs.
The company was founded twelve years ago and besides the production of Yellow melons, Watermelons, Piel de Sapo melons, Cantaloupe melons they also grow Papaya and Butternut
squash.
During these past twelve years they have become very passionate about the production
of high quality butternut squash.
About the butternut squash
Butternut squash grows just like melons. It takes approximately twenty days before the
butternut squash plants have developed sufficiently from seed and they can be planted in the fields. The plants are kept warm by stretched sheets of plastic to encourage growth!
About butternut squash exports
The butternut squash is harvested, packed and exported in 10 kg cardboard boxes from week 2 to week 23. During this period the team meets once a week during the export season, to improve quality and the technical procedures. Unifrutas is GlobalGAP, GRASP and Sedex certified and is committed to food safety, safe harvesting procedures and quality control. Not only do they produce top quality products, they also make sure the boxes, pallets and packaging are fit for export and include all the technical information required.
